News is Redirected

On the off chance that someone subscribed to my website back in 2009 and still has it in their feed reader:

1.) I integrated my RSS into Geraldprokop.com, therefore this feed will no longer be updated.  Please redirect your feed reader to subscribe to the following URL: http://geraldprokop.com/feed/

2.) Wow, I can't believe you're still paying attention!  I'm making a new record and you can hear all the rough drafts on Soundcloud as I work on the tracks.  Stop by and download one for free.

Help organizing a tour

May 5, 2009

I'm heading for the road in September.  Below is a list of states I will be traveling through.  I'm looking for bands in these areas who want to set up shows and possibly places to crash, although I also plan on camping along the way.  Send me a message on Myspace or email me at mail@geraldprokop.com if you can help.

Dates are tentative but generally I plan to leave MN to the south in early September and arrive back from the east in late September, being on the road for about three weeks.

Enormous Problems

April 28, 2009
The new EP, Enormous Problems, is ready and available for purchase through Prokiev Projects + Publishing or Snocap.

Enormous Problems is an eight-track, partly instrumental CDR with lots of noisy keyboards and transistor overdrive.  Two tracks from it, "Woken in Half" and "The Drill Return" are up on Myspace and you can also stream the album at iLike and Last.FM

The physical package includes an inkjet-labeled CDR with photocopied art, a fictional text and a Prokiev sticker, housed in a clear bag.  Buy it at Prokiev Projects + Publishing

Buy the MP3 album on Myspace, in the Snocap store.

New EP out in May

March 29, 2009
I'm working on the next full length record, which I hope to release this summer.  In the meantime, I'm polishing up (if you can call it that) some tracks to release in May as a CDR EP, entitled "Enormous Problems."  It'll be available from Prokiev Projects + Publishing and Snocap.

New drummer and a project

February 23, 2009
I have a new band member joining the lineup, drummer Chris Pappas.  He will be playing with Sarah and I on Saturday, February 28th at Fort Awesome.  It's exciting to be raising the volume level and making the songs from Exits + Obstacles come alive in real time!

I also have a totally different project in the works: recording another band.  Bla Bla Blacksheep, my friends, fellow zinesters and travelmates, are letting me record their album for them.  I'll be documenting it on my blog.

I added some stuff to the top of the website so you can subscribe to the periodic news feed (this), receive RSS notification of upcoming shows and subscribe to my monthly email newsletter.

Upcoming Gigs

January 22, 2009
I guess my New Years resolution is to get out and play some shows.  I've been working with Sarah Wash, who will be providing backing vocals and piano for me during these upcoming gigs.  And my new robot friend, Alesis SR-18 will take care of the drumming!  Watch my calender page as more shows are added.
  • January 25 at Acadia Cafe with Brad Senne and Me You Like I
  • February 28 at Fort Awesome, with Fleetwood Marx and more TBA
  • March 14 at the Beat Coffeehouse with Telepathos and Ghostband

Detritus downloads are back

December 9, 2008
I'm not posting the free downloads from the Detritus Volume I series on Myspace anymore.  Instead, you can get the lyrics and download the song from my blog, Quelquechose.   You can also listen to it right from the blog post.  I also made an archive for the collection on my Detritus Online Mess website, but in keeping with the theme of that site, you'll have to stumble upon it.

The Detritus Volume I project is a collection of old recordings that I'm posting as free downloads.  It includes out-takes, demos and otherwise unused tracks.  Detrius Online Mess is a creative interweb dumping ground that will hopefully grow to be hopelessly convoluted and unmanageable.

Exits + Obstacles Out Now!

October 1, 2008
The new CD, Exits + Obstacles, is out in certain Twin Cities area stores right now.  The list of places to get it is growing, so if you know of a store that you think would want to stock it, let me know.

Exits + Obstacles

July 9, 2008
The new CD, "Exits + Obstacles" will be available in the fall.  For now, check out the Myspace page, where you can listen to the new track, "Give MN Back to Canada."
